The problem with the left-right dichotomy is that it's never properly defined. The true far left would be the authoritarians - communists, fascists, all those bastards - while the far right would be the anarchists; it's about how much power the government has, from absolute to zero.
They really aren't. Nazis were, or rather are, National Socialists; it's right there in their name. Socialism, fascism, and communism are all just slightly different flavors of the same evil ideology.
