Their goal was (is) to elevate a major military threat (China) capable of confronting the US in order to replace the Soviet threat, and justify cold-war (Soviet) era military funding to line their own (MIC) pockets with US tax payer dollars.

Once people understand that, the motives for the perpetual uni-party capitulation to China, and foreign investments that bolster the CCP become crystal clear.
