My opinion? Both were of consenting age in NC so, no I don't think they should have been charged with sex crimes. I also think them being of the same or similar age is a somewhat mitigating factor as well. This should have been handled by the families. Again, my opinion.

Do I think 16 is too young to be a legal consenting age in today's society? Yes. I have seen the damage time and time again.
