If they had called Los Angeles County, they would have learned that suicides there have been some 30x the normal rate.
The former cop who runs the CanAm Missing 411 project had a son who committed suicide in January. He talked to a few people while there to take care of his son's affairs about death rates in the area.
I've worked at the same place for 21 years. We have around 250-300 employees. During the "pandemic" we've had about 4 or 5 positive tests 0 hospitalizations and 0 deaths. Last month 2 co-workers committed suicide. No one else has ever committed suicide in my 21 years.
I have a friend who has family in LA, there are definitely a lot of suicides right now
