Actually, the human mind is designed to be mindful of threats so that you might avoid them in the future. That's why you can remember terrible incidents in your life, but mundane things like the number of times you opened the fridge today is often forgotten.
Your brain wants you to remember things that could put you in trouble in the future so that it could keep you out of danger if the time arises.
Fear actually keeps you alive.
All true. But it can't be denied that many humans are instinctively drawn to fear inducing stimuli. Scary movies, scary amusement park rides, dangerous hobbies. It is of course, a classical human paradox. Former paratrooper here with 66 Jumps to my credit and a Master Parachutist rating.
