NORTHCOM is the command responsible for defense of the nation, but they don't actually have any "door kickers" assigned to back that up. It's a rotating assignment.
Last year it was the 10th Mountain assigned to the force projection mission. IDK if that's rotated to a new unit yet.
Also of interest is they spent an awful lot of "training days" on the southern border last year doing search-and-rescue, surveillance and sheltering operations.
I always assumed post 4414 would have meant Marines going to secure DC while 10Mtn secured the southern border (but in reality would serve to not only stop a Soros-funded horde, but break up trafficking operations).
