Scott Adams reminds me of an employee I had (software developer). Similar look, feel, way of talking, as well as a similar ability to say the right buzz words without really understanding what he is talking about.
I wouldn't go that far. It's just a matter of aptitude. The vast majority of people are not aware of their own ignorance (it's not an easy task to realize what we don't know, even though what we know is finite, and what we don't is INFINITE).
I have no problem with him, and I don't think he's unintelligent, but I do think he fancies himself a philosopher while having little to no understanding of philosophy, which is fine, except for those at or under his level of understanding for whom it can be misleading.
Agreed, I have nothing against him, as he is clearly a genuine person capable of thinking. But I would caution anyone who believes he has a great understanding of the world as a whole, because he is a poor substitute for a philosopher.
Humanity cycles constantly between micro "dark ages" and "golden ages" -- just compare the 1920s with the 1950s, and then with today to know this is true. But the truth of the matter is we are in the Black Age (Kali Yuga) for another 427,000 years or so, according to the great world cycles worked out by the ancient sages who WERE philosophers. (For the zealous Christians, I will remind you that this same tradition of sacred sciences that calculated the great cycles was also used to calculate the arrival of Jesus, as is told in the story of the Nativity, with the arrival of the three "wise men" or Magi).
Our current (Dark) age started about 5,000 years ago, and is a descent into materialism. If you observe the patterns in even recent (written) history, you will be able to confirm for yourself that this is necessarily the case. Progress and human advancement is continuously redefined with every generation to be more and more material, moving further away from God (Spirit). There are certainly smaller cycles within that, high points and low points, as previously mentioned, but the overall trend is still darkness, which is necessary, as I'm sure you know, without darkness there can be no light.
All of this said, Adams was talking about a "Golden Age" in NEWS specifically, as he then goes on to say is due to the lack of bad things being reported. However, if you look at what has actually been happening, not just what the MSM reports, there were much fewer bad things happening under the previous administration -- so it's a pointless observation.

I can agree with that. But then I'd say there are better sources for promoting that idea and belief than a clip from Scott Adams ;)
