Resident grammar Nazi, reporting in:
"Less than 10" implies a unit of time. A countable noun is supposed to use "fewer" instead of "less" - except with time (even though we use seconds, minutes, hours, seconds) or with money.
If Q was referring to people, the correct thing to say is "fewer than 10 people". I remember a post that said spelling mistakes are intentional or meaningful.
