Usually a dog owned by someone is on a leash- this wording is used a lot in headlines etc. Juxtapose this with the photos they issue of their 'dogs' (people they have on a leash) and the symbolism involved with that too (red / blue leash indicates political party, name of dog also offers clues) and you have a (simplified) example of dog comms.
