Cancel culture is about destroying someone's life over one politically incorrect comment, often taken out of context, or one relatively minor mistake - including mistakes discovered from the past when the the behavior was considered acceptable - and trying to ruin the person's life, refusing to listen to any explanation or apology. It's not about holding someone accountable for criminal or truly vile behavior or years of bad behavior.
