I was in maybe 5th grade when this all went down. Leo Ryan was our congressman and for a few years after that there would be dedications for this building, that park, etc., but I really did not understand it. When I got old enough and learned more about Jim Jones and the history of the People's Temple, what I found interesting is how many current high profile Democrats were very close to him at the time as they were coming up the ranks of the party. They liked him because he would get his followers out to canvas. Then the guy ends up murdering 900 people - many who were African American. (I believe there is a grave at a cemetery in Oakland where it is basically a mass grave of unknown people from Jonestown.) So whenever I hear these fools start to wave the Qanon-is-a-cult flag, I like to point this out.
Although I do not care for her, one person I don't see getting involved with a lot of this is Jackie Spier. I knew she had been shot on the tarmac but it was only maybe two years ago when I was watching a documentary on Jonestown that she mentioned she nearly lost both an arm and leg to gangrene after the being shot. I mentioned it to a friend of mine who also grew up on the area and she was surprised as well. I get not wanting to talk about something so traumatic, but a part of me wonders where she really stands on all of this. Oh, she will spout the party line, but she got to look at evil up close. That has to stay with you.
These people are beyond hope it seems. Zombies. God save us.
Funny but not funny!?
I love PJW. That video is frightening. There is nothing worse than a self-righteous, combative sheep.

There are rumors that Jim Jones was either a CIA asset or programmed by the CIA. What a lunatic.
