This can be misinterpreted. If conventional wisdom is fully degenerate, it doesn't represent "the light", to the extent that normalizing to it makes a person "good", as far as natural law goes, which are the most concrete moral foundations that have been gleaned through finding the optimal life outcomes from long observations of the living.
They can be seen as "good" in the eyes of equally degenerate peers though.
