"Pushing"?
This meme is bullshit. There were never aprons in the Flintstones.
Nevermind the fact tht groups like this - Men's groups - were popular after the war. It was a social way of dealing with previous difficult circustances.
Like for real... not everything has to confirm a bias...
My sentiments, too. They're even making a little fun of mens' societies in the cartoon. For instance the leader is called Grand High Pumbaa...just silly stuff. Even the Honeymooners (the show Flintstones was based off of) had the Order of Raccoons. Again, it's innocent stuff, the characters aren't doing evil things, and we need to not lose our sense of humor here.
Yeah like, I think people need to remember it a) was a different time and b) men's societies saved a hell of a lot of lives post-war. They do to this day. Yeah, they were a little silly and the wives were like "Ugh... how lame", but that was the point. It was a bit of R&R and healing for a lot of men. Camaraderie, fellowship, a place where they could "belong" and let their hair down for a bit, away from a tough society that wanted them to forget about what they'd experienced.
People forget that "clubhouses" and all that were things that these men grew up doing - it's an extension of that. A primitive therapy.
Yes, secret "societies" exist with nefarious purposes, but not on the scale and scope people keep trying to push.
