Today I went grocery shopping. More than half the people were not wearing masks. Of all the people I passed only 2 made direct eye contact with me at two separate times. I smiled at both of them. No smile back. The first person I just felt awkward because there was no reciprocated smile. The second person looked mad I smiled at them. Anyone else notice this or am I going with the I'm just crazy escuse?

I live just outside Chicago and try to hit a daily walk, if not two. I never get returned smiles. Usually, they either look annoyed or they look away. Some even turn their bodies, like that would stop them from contracting my supposed cooties. It’s so bizarre.
I know in other countries that is the culture and smiles are offensive. Whatever evil is influencing our place is scary. Yesterday I drove passed a back the blue event so I stopped by and started talking to strangers. And older guy who appeared to be a veteran to me was able to tell me what was going on and gave me some information on meetings that go on in my neighborhood that I want to start attending. Then I tried talking to other random people there and it was a small even but after my 3rd person after the older guy, non of them seemed enthusiastic to chit chat about the event they were attending m pretty concerning. But such a cool little event.
