Big tech pays a lot of money as well. I ran across an article where a survey was done of boards of directors in terms of CEO compensation - paid too much relative to employee salaries. It listed the CEO pay and the average pay of the employees. Average employee pay at Google us $258K.

A friend of mine has a brother in law that worked for Twitter at one point. He hated it. Just hated it. But they kept throwing money at him. He stayed until he was able to pay off his house. Got another job and his wife was able to stop working.
