So, it’s finally happened... my 100% remote company was just told that, some day in July, we would all be required to come in, at the same time, one day a week.
And now co-workers are asking everyone on Slack about who has been vaccinated and making thinly veiled sarcastic jokes about how they’ll ask everyone to show their papers.
I actually had to remind one of them that he was anti-vaccine back in December and January, before he suddenly flipped (but I’m sure he’s very smart and did not base his opinion solely on what CNN says at any given moment).
Boss hasn’t mandated the vaccine yet, but it’s coming.
I don’t normally post, but I need moral support! The fight has finally come to my door, and now I either need to just quit real soon and find something else, or prepare for how I stand my ground!
I’m finding out that I’m not alone in my hesitancy now, at least.
So, they may well find themselves with 2-3 employees quitting all at once, which they cannot afford to do.
One employee is a fellow software developer that I work with (who I suspect is a Trumper) and the other is into the ACA processing and compliance side (a black woman who tends to post liberal things on Facebook but also has some very strong 2nd Amendment leanings... she’s the type of person who I think would be a full blown awakened Q supporter if you could cut through the MSM noise).
Both are smart and valuable employees that we can’t afford to lose (although one has a rather business specific skillset that might hamper his job search).
A part of me thinks I could just quietly find another software dev job and be done with it, but the other part of me wants to put up a fight, and do the right thing, for the sake of the other 2 employees (and anyone else who might be against the vaxx but are too afraid to say anything).
It scares me to think that anyone else working here might get the jab out of pressure to do so. Nobody should ever feel that way.
Thank you for the encouragement, fren!
