I'm going from memory, so apologies if I get this wrong.

Last year when this thing first came out, it was understood to be a Frankenstein monster of stuff that had been stitched in.

One thing they used was HIV sequences. Not sure if sequences is the right word, but they did borrow knowledge on what they knew of HIV to add to the brew.

So it is supposed to be virulent (pun intended) and lower your immune system.
