Drove from Dallas, Tx to Destin, Fl. Stayed in a hotel in Mississippi. Went to a Walmart in Alabama. Staying in a Hilton Resort in Florida. All have signs “requiring masks”. Never put on a mask. Nobody cared. Everybody is ignoring the signs.
Most people except employees were not wearing masks. Employees were often wearing them halfway. Hundreds of people at the Hilton and less than 5% wearing a mask and only inside. Honestly, starting to feel like the mask wearers are the freaks now... as it should be. Only a matter of time. And nobody said shit about a freaking Vax either. Happy Memorial Day!
I am in Chicago and I do not wear. Most stores in burbs (Niles, MG) say CDC says you don't need if you are vaccinated. I am still the only one in the store without a mask. I have had people pull theirs down after they see me so I am doing my part. Chicago technically they are still required because of looney Lightfoot.
I loved to take the train in and spend the day in Chicago pre-covid. Are they fairly back to same over there, or would I still be treated like a criminal just for showing up?
Outside things are really normal. Most restaurants are now crowded and no seating limitations and people are mostly maskless, at least once they sit down. Edison Park is the only ward that voted for Trump. Go to Zia's in Edison Park if you want a night out. The food is great and the people are normal. https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/11/09/chicago-neighborhood-flexes-its-muscle-for-trump/
Thanks. Looks not to far from the airport, but far enough the hotel prices might be lower. I've always liked visiting Chicago. Though they seem to have perfected machine politics for 150 years at least, the people have that Midwestern laid back politeness that makes it a nicer big city to hang out in.
