It's always just been bullshit to stop the health inspectors from fining them. I don't blame business owners for sticking it up. They already have to jump through hoops to stay in business; so what's one more? I'd always try to actually talk to the business owner about it.

My local gun store just had the word "MASK" scrawled in sharpie on a scrap of paper and taped in to the front door. They did the bare minimum to keep the inspector off their back. None of us actually work masks inside.
