There are many false prophets, and mega churches can be full of them. There are exceptions to every rule, but where this is big money there is typically corruption.
Tithing is a true principle, with many spiritual benefits to the giver, and churches can do a lot of good for the world through missionary and humanitarian projects, but don't kid yourself into thinking everyone who presents himself as a Christian is a good person (especially those that have something to gain from doing so).
