I have a feeling there will be more ‘hackers hitting key infrastructure’ excuses these next few months.
It's definitely a thing, heard on the radio today that the ferry service from Massachusetts to the islands was hit. Not even key infrastructure, it struck me as almost a "get people used to hearing about this," kind of thing?

The Steamship Authority was the target of a ransomware attack Wednesday that shut down the boat line’s ticketing and reservations systems, and led to some travel delays.
There was no impact to the safety of vessel operations, and no trips were canceled, SSA spokesman Sean Driscoll said.
The attack did not affect vessel radar or GPS functionality on any boats. “There have been some minor delays as agents had to process paper tickets. The electronic ones weren’t working,”
That leads me to think they are setting the general public up to soften the blow of the blackout, either internet, energy or possibly both. If they feel in control enough to turn things back on they will say the hackers took over the main infrastructure that you don’t know about so now we need to be in control of everything we missed. Oh and there is another pandemic so stay inside.
