Someone here recently did an analysis of all of the cicadas articles (comms) - and I just noticed a dozen articles that warn not to eat cicadas if you have a shellfish allergy. It's amazing the things that (now) catch my eye! Link

Not sure what happens where you live, but I can assure you Cicadas are prolific EVERY summer here. It is no rarity to be audibly drowned out by them during the summers here in Texas. The best advise we give is to be extra alert around the bases of trees in the early evening because copperhead snakes will gather there to wait for Cicadas to crawl to and up the trees to shed their shells.
So true. I sleep with earplugs in August.
