Looks like the monitor is a computer to me! Might be one of those Dell Inspiron 2400's !

Didn't say it was a Laptop! It's a full-fledge computer but just looks like a Monitor! All the hardware like Hard Drive, etc., are all built in! So, whoever was in there could have removed Hard Drive and Thumb Drives with no problem! JMHO!
