Q-post #1010 is the only post that mentions "tobacco", I think, and it is right between vaccines and opioids. I am starting to feel like a piece of shit because I can't seem to quit "dip". Do you who partake in "nicotine" products [rooftop] think that this is the community to help us quit?

I will start it off. I have smoked or used dip for the past 17 years. I work in the technical (no bullshit) part of industry and everyone I work with smokes or dips. I have two young kids and I am sick of this shit owning my life. I will dip for the last time right now and quit for good, but I know I am going to need support. Who is down?
Get lots of gum/ sunflower seeds and keep some candy with you. The hardest part is breaking the rituals, the car rides, the first one in the morning, after lunch, the last one at night, etc. switch things up and take a different route to work, find something productive and distracting to do when you get the urge. You can always make it 10 more minutes or an hour without. Focus on short term goals. Worry about what’s on the other side of that bridge when you get to it. It’s going to be a rough few weeks. Take whatever money you would have spent on it and stash it away every time you would have bought a pack or a can and set a 2 week or one month goal and then blow all that money on one thing you’ve wanted for a long time, but couldn’t justify spending the money on. Short term goals. 10 minutes, 1 hour, one day at a time. It will become easier, I promise. Change up routines , distract yourself, and reward your success.
Awesome advice. I am in it to win it this time. I appreciate the comment. Godspeed.
Another thing is cravings only last a few minutes at a time. Say a prayer, listen to a song and the craving is gone before your done. I love smoking and miss it but it’s worth the fresh air and money savings.
