Sounds like a socialist trope to me. If you have a kid in that school, take him out immediately. In the same vein as first fixing the oxygen mask to yourself before helping others on a plane, life is about taking care of yourself and your immediate loved ones first, and THEN taking care of others IF you have the time, resources, or patience to do so. I don't understand why this should be controversial.
