Eh… that’s looking at it too simplistically. The Republic was already in tatters from decades of civil war. No way the old structures could hold together in a burgeoning empire. Caesars assassination was just confirmation that the constitutional republic, who’s rule of law, was based on oath and honor, had fallen beyond repair
