Yep, they are dialing up the hype. But hypersonic craft do not stop in mid-air or make a tight turn.
The most reliable hypersonic weapon is still a missile (some missiles), and everyone has those for decades already. Turn radius at high speed is a pain. But anything reusable with a thin skin needed for fuel tanks is still real iffy. Aeroelastic flutter can disintegrate a vehicle in less than a second.
Too much disinformation and babble. And the report will probably be a damp squib that does not answer the big questions. So let's see what false flags the enemy can do.
Yes, I'm making a distinction between UFO-like tech and conventional hypersonic tech. None of the publicly-visible hypersonic weapon systems or research is remotely like UFO tech.
All conventional hypersonics go in roughly a straight line, they can't turn or brake hard, and they will have extreme heat issues in the lower atmosphere. But if anyone can break conventional aerospace technology and physics, then it can't be properly called hypersonics anymore. After all, the kind of accelerations and turns those UFOs can perform would require local gravity field modification if there are any meatbags in any of those UFO-like vehicles.
It's a whole new tech area, if you will. To mix the two is very poor tech writing -- hype or disinformation or reaching.

You're assuming they're not using some of Tesla's discoveries.
