Prions are among the nastiest of things.. and harder to deal with than viruses, because they work on such a smaller level. Supposedly they were among the very first types of life, way earlier than RNA let alone DNA and anything as complex as a eukaryotic cell.
And what a shock, this RNA tampering thing that tries to mess around with protein formation seems to generate prions as part of the process.. which are malformed and self-replicating toxic proteins.
Anyone with any cred in biology could have told you that this was a likely outcome when you start messing around with proteins. And a company full of such people didn't somehow catch this? This is NOT accidental.
