Do your research, wild horse and feral burros have become a plague on the land, eating themselves out of house and home. Not even considering that there are upwards of 50,000 being held in captivity at a cost to the taxpayer of up to $50,000 per each to have them housed in captivity over their lifespans.
Do the math, a $100 ,000,000 here a $100,000,000 million there soon adds up to serious money..
Not to mention the 100,000,000 yearly the taxpayer funds to capture , process and keep just the ones they capture in a year. Which is not even the yearly colt crop.
I hate to see horses killed as much as anyone, but the wild horse and burro act has morphed into an absolute monster.
Something needs to be done, and done from an honest fiscal and environmental standpoint instead of the unbelievably stupid place of emotion. Get them down to a sustainable and ecological level where ranchers, wildlife and the landscape can sustain. And keep them there.
