Although it mentions that the car was travelling at 65 mph through the tunnel, that's really not that unusual. I had a chance to see the tunnel when I was in Paris and I'm here to tell you, they drive like the devil through that tunnel. There's a narrow sidewalk where you can walk to see inside the tunnel and I was half afraid to do even that what with the speed of the cars on the other side of me.

Oh, and there was one other oddity about the crash. The car hit the 13th pillar in the tunnel. Hmmm.....
