The hubby and I love to travel, especially cruising. We've been loyal customers of Royal Caribbean for over a decade. We were disappointed to hear a few months ago that they were requiring proof of vax to cruise. No way are we getting the jab. So... we figured this too shall eventually pass, and we would book a cruise when they no longer require vax proof.
Then, last week, we received an email from RC, stating the vax proof restriction has been lifted. Yippee!
But wait... not so fast. Unvaxed passengers are allowed to cruise, but RC will be charging said individuals MORE for the "privilege."
Say what??? As an unvaxed person, I'M EITHER A HEALTH RISK TO OTHERS OR I'M NOT! And please explain to me how extra passage dollars will make me "less contagious" to others around me!
We're being discriminated against for not taking the jab.
I like cruise vacations... but for the next few months, I'd advise AGAINST it.
If (or when) the SHTF, which may be in July, August or September... do you REALLY want to be on a ship 2,000 miles away from the U.S.? Internet access may be down, communications disrupted, banks may be off-line for a few days, there may be serious issues... basically things might be weird for a few weeks.
During that time, would you honestly like to be in Cancun, Mexico or in Jamaica or at the port in Honduras, have ZERO communications and no way of knowing what is happening back home? Do you want even a remote possibility of having your bank account frozen while you are out of the country?
This is a time to sit tight. I wouldn't plan any major excursions for at least the next 3 months. Let the dust settle first. Who knows... your ultimate vacation might be having a FRONT ROW SEAT to the biggest political even in U.S. history. :>) Grab some popcorn and enjoy. No beach in the Bahamas can compete with that.
Totally agree with you! We were looking to go abroad next spring. Would love to see Italy and the British Isles again. :-) I wouldn't give up my front row seat to the Greatest Show on Earth for nothing! NCSWIC
