I think the more sensational outlets mentioned blowing up a mock carrier, but other news outlets did not mention anything blowing up. One story mentioned a simulated attack. Probably the "blowing up" stories are mistaken, especially if they are from Sun / Daily Mail. Simulated attacks is the more likely scenario.
