I would hope pushing out to space could be an answer.

it will help with overpopulation but also be good for existential wipeout of humanity

Nick Bostrom makes argument that delay in space colonization will result in opportunity cost of trillions of potential lives. Over thousands of years, maybe. it is an interesting thought experiment.
