It's been posted on this board already today but if you missed it, several owners of Western Digital external hard drives found that their files had been totally erased without warning.
It would seem that any hard drive connected to the internet is at risk. This is an opportune moment for Patriots to review what unprotected files they have on their hard drives (the symphony you wrote that blows Beethoeven away, your Unified Field Theory For Dummies, the sonnets that are going to make DJT appoint you as Poet Laureate next year... you know what I mean).
The first line of protection is to put your key files onto offline storage - could be SSD drives, could be CD-R's, heck could even be ZipDisks. Techies will bicker about the comparative advantages of each but that's not a discussion for me.
The second line of protection is to place your offline data media - your CD's, SSD drives, traditional hard drives, floppy disks, etc. - into a Faraday cage. Here is how you can make a Faraday cage if you don't want to buy one off the shelf:

Stay safe Patriots!
And maybe even print out anything you might need if your computers are fried for some reason.
that is an excellent idea too!
