Nevertheless, they signed. They made the conscious choice to take part in a medical experiment. Whether they bothered to read what they were signing up for is none of my concern. The information was presented to them, and they chose to skip their homework. They took the easy road and relinquished their autonomy to a third party.

This is precisely the attitude that got us here in the first place. Do you know why we need a Great Awakening? We need a Great Awakening because far too many American citizens relinquish their autonomy to third parties like senators, congressmen, politicians, school boards, doctors, big pharma, nutritionists, etc. People have become fat, lazy, uninformed, uneducated, and more often than not unwilling to change due to their lack of any will to exist independently as an autonomous being.

I am reminded of a scene from Christopher Nolan's first Batman film. Bruce and his mentor Ra's al Ghul are training on the glacier.

Ra's turns to Bruce and says

"Your parents' death was not your fault. It was your father's. Anger does not change the fact that your father failed to act."

Bruce retorts

"The man had a gun!"

Ra's replies

"Would that stop you?"

Bruce says

"I've had training!"

Ra's finishes the debate stating

"Your training is NOTHING! Your will is EVERYTHING. The will to ACT.

No amount of information will matter if a person lacks the fundamental will to act on that information. That will cannot be given or taught to a person. They must find it within themselves to take action, overcome their fear and become autonomous once again.

As Morpheus tells Neo in The Matrix,

"I can only show you the door. You are the one who has to walk though it."

Everyone must take the final step on their own. No one can do it for them.
