Since you don’t think she’s all that, I invite you to google Jackie getting on Air Force One in Dallas, alone, no one comforting her, no one holding her, propping her up, with her husband’s brains and blood all over her suit. Everyone told her to change her clothes. She refused. Everyone told her to go rest. She refused. She insisted on standing next to Johnson as he got sworn in, with crime scene evidence splattered all over her. She just had her husband assassinated in her lap, and she had the presence of mind to force everyone on Air Force One to look at her, to deal with her. She said “No, let them see what they’ve done.” Tough. As. Nails. She’s all that and more.
I wasn't casting aspersions on her character, I meant she was lauded as the most beautiful First Lady and frankly she really wasn't beautiful or pretty imo, her face was too angular. She was attractive and elegant and classy but never beautiful. Although I suppose in comparison with previous First Ladies, and given how standards of beauty change she probably was genuinely thought beautiful at the time.
Bit like Wallis Simpson was often described as a beauty but I always found her rather ugly.
I think the hair styles of the times don't help a lot in many cases.
So relax, I admire her for what she did (and hope LBJ is burning in hell) but she wasn't a physical beauty imo. Melania IS classically beautiful though, and she's treated like dog shit.
