They really are perfecting the 'own nothing' part, I'm not sensing much of the 'be happy' part though.

I dont think the 'be happy' part is a prediction, but rather is an order. You WILL be happy, or else your owners will administer increasing levels of corrective punishment until appropriate levels of happy are expressed.
