I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
"... one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
All that aside, why are WE pledging allegiance to the government? It is the GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES who are supposed to be pledging allegiance to protect OUR rights.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident ... that governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."
It was added later and untill WW2 the right hand was over the heart then extended out like the Roman salute. But they changed that so we wouldn't look like Nazis ..
I think it should be to a pledge to the constitution ..
But I support it being said in school and anywhere someone wants to say it and I will always remove my hat and place it over my heart
I understand your perspective. I do think that we need to all be mindful of the fact that the People are at the top of the food chain, not the government employees.

"Under God" was added much, much later.
It flows more smoothly without it.
"... one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Agreed. The federal employees are technically our workers since it's our. Tax dollars that pays their wages
