I locked myself in a vette once. An 06. Thinking the key fob was dead I used the key to pop the trunk and used the manual door release. I shut the door and tried to start the car. It was dead, dead, dead. Not thinking , which is the theme of this story. It was 95 degrees outside, the car was in the sun and if I had to guess I would say it was 120 or so inside that car. It was immediately almost impossible to breath. I tried to twist around to reach the back release but there was no access. There is also no room to move at all in that car. Electric windows and door handles. What I did not know at the time was there is a door release down by the kick panel that my large leg was blocking and I could not see. I am 6'1 240 and that was that. Luckily someone was walking by and I pushed the top of the window out, passed him the key (convertible) and got out. Now I am very sensitive to anyone that leaves a dog in their car and goes in a store.
That is tragic. I will be honest, stupid or not, I got very scared for a few seconds there. That is the same model as the one I was in, same color too. That was a hardtop.

Someone actually died in a Corvette of that generation in the same scenario you just described. I remember reading about it a few years back.
