I also am a nurse. Fortunately, I no longer work in a hospital setting. In the 70’s, I felt that the hospital system cared about the patient, now along with insurance interference, the hospitals have become huge conglomerates that only care about money, and the next acquisition to further their profits. The cleanliness and repair of the main hospital, the patient centered approach may be decaying, but they will continue to swallow other hospitals and medical practices in their quest for power, elimination of competition and money. They don’t care about fixing what is broken. They send out surveys, but don’t respond to negatives or constructive criticism. Those surveys are discarded or ignored. They only use the positive surveys. The JCOHA is a joke. They know when they are coming. They beef up the staffing numbers, clean from top to bottom, check all medications to be sure they aren’t expired, they keep equipment out of corridors, and discard torn furniture. The rest of the time administration could care less and never even visit the divisions to know what is reality.
