Quick! everybody get your amateur radio license and get a Icom IC-7100 tranceiver. learn how to use it, learn how to use VHF/UHF and HF frequencies. Learn how to use PACTOR and packet radio. Then learn how to use digital modes, connect your laptop to the radio and you can use amateur radio to send email and text messages radio to radio or a network of radios! We don’t need cell phones!

Only issue is if you’re in an area with no repeaters you’re only radio to radio then range is an issue. (FCC Licensed pede).
