Had a family member suddenly start having major hyperthyroid symptoms. Went to the doctor, he told us he needed to have his thyroid removed and put on medication for the rest of his life. We, of COURSE, said "yeah, no thanks" walked out and did our own damn research, and found the root cause: ASPARTAME. He had been chewing lots of an aspartame-laden gum for months. Like everyday, just became a habit. Combined with a lot of strenuous exercise at work, etc. BOOM! some sort of eventual acute hyperthyroid issue. He cut out the aspartame and after he detoxed from that, he went right back to normal. That was about 10 years ago. His thyroid has not had a single issue since then.
Moral of the story: DO NOT LISTEN TO ANY DOCTOR without doing your due dilligence. Do your own exhaustive RESEARCH. The doctors care about MONEY. The doctors do NOT care about you. Nobody Cares. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. No one else has your best interests at heart.
I was hooked on Diet Coke for a few years, and my bloodwork showed possible hypothyroidism. Of course the doctor wanted to put me on thyroid immediately even though the TSH count was only slightly abnormal. I told him I wanted to wait and see if any dietary changes would help. He said it wouldn't make a difference. I changed doctors, cut out all artificial sweeteners and other junk, started working out and eating better. Next blood panel showed perfectly normal thyroid counts.
Glad to hear it!
I used to love gum, then discovered they all had aspartame, so I quit. The only aspartame-free gum that has a long-enough lasting flavor for me is Spry cinnamon-flavored gum.
When doing this research, see if you can find an answer to how it would cause cancer.
Aspartame is metabolized into common amino acids and methanol. Methanol is certainly not good for you, but your body can deal with small amounts. Turns up in nature regularly, you have to be able to do something about it.
So how much methanol? Since aspartame is insanely sweet, it doesn't take much. Therefore very little methanol. So unless you plan on drinking hundreds or thousands of cokes a day, I would like to know:
How is aspartame supposed to cause cancer?
I have no idea. I was just sharing my experience with the hyperthyroid issue and aspartame.
I don't know either. What I do know is there was an artificial sweetener war back in the old day and there's mountains of fud and propaganda that's difficult to sort out. Politicians and lawyers got involved, people were injecting sweeteners into rat kidneysto get the scary resultsthey wanted... All kinds of wor weird shit.
I don't believe that any sane amount of aspartame would hurt you. Remember, the dose makes the poison.
Well, even too much water can kill you. But back to aspartame,I don't eat or drink anything with aspartame or any other crap sweetener. I'm just not into that kind of food. I used to be. Not for a long time though, now. The healthier you eat, fruits and vegetables etc. the more your taste buds seem to adapt. When you eat anything with weird sweeteners or just anything that's some sort of "junk" food, it tastes pretty bizarre. Overly saturated with salt or sugar or whatnot. I try to keep it simple, these days.
