Yeah, there was a study done on it tracking the number nationwide. The study was actually done in about 2011 though, so I strongly suspect the number would have doubled to 2,000 per year at any given time. BUT - I don't have any studies to back that up - it's just a guess based on a societal observation. And of course: even 2K is still nothing compared what we're witnessing.
