I'm not sure what the options are for communication in the future, when I was a child our families used CB radios to talk every day here in Iowa. I know some folks use marine band radios to hunt coyotes because it is illegal to use radios for hunting, but something about marine band bypasses attention? Maybe HAM radio? Just tossing it out there.
