The Democrats didn't become totalitarians in the last decade, the MSM didn't become communists in the last decade, places like CNN probably were infested with this radical cultists from day 1 explaining how they could end up so far gone. The Bush era Republicans were likely controlled op of some sorts, while if you go back far enough perhaps at some point the Democrats were the controlled op and the Republicans were the main deep state headquarters, maybe someone like Carter was an intentional sandbag.

But why did it take them so long to pull the trigger on naked authoritarianism? Because the previous system was great for the rich oligarchs who are running the show, why would they want to change it? The US was already built to serve the corrupt and wealthy, but best of all they were doing it without it being totally obvious to the majority of the population. The plan seems to be to turn it into China, but is China really better for oligarchs than the US?

So why such authoritarian aggressiveness all of a sudden in the last ten years? Why did the oligarchs abandon the previous system and attempt to put the population in bondage which is risky and appear to not be much better for them?
