... about 2 or 3 years ago, when I was still on Plebbit... noticing that there was a clear and severe astroturding campaign against "anti-vaxxers."
It struck me as incredibly strange at the time, virtually all subreddits got infiltrated with "pro-vaxxers" who would take every opportunity and do everything they could to insert jokes about antivaxxers or somehow relate every post to pro-vaxxing propganda. And this was on subreddits thay had absolutely nothing to do with vaxxing or health or anything.
Like I said, it struck me as extrenely noticeable as an organized campaign and seemed incredibly strange at the time.
Sure seems funny, looking back on it now.
This crap is insidious and everywhere.
I used to be on a car forum that was all about performance, handling, etc. but there were also open discussion threads. One day posts start showing up about how anyone that wants to keep using cash is probably a criminal and why wouldn't you want to use your debit card to pay? The discussion kept coming back to you being a criminal if you wanted to hang onto cash and if you weren't doing anything wrong why would you care if there was a transaction record? Weird.
I finally looked at the poster's history and none were new. All their posts were rather generic but it gave them a solid post count so they looked like regulars. There were at least 3 profiles, likely all from one person but they'd been up more than a year before they started posting how great cashless would be. This in 2005, in a car forum, with maybe 500 active users. How long has this shit been going on?
