I’m a northern Virginia hospital after having knee replacement surgery this morning. Nurse comes in all sunshiny. Convo goes like this;

Nurse: “My friend, did you get your shot? Your Covid shot?” Me: “No” Nurse: “You didn’t get your Covid shot?” Me: “No” Nurse: “Do you plan to get your Covid shot?” Me: No Nurse (less sunshiny): “Ok well we have to ask.”

Not liking the “your” connected to shot and wondering if I should fall asleep..,,,

Every patient has the right to medical record privacy under HIPAA laws. Legally, people with AIDS are not required to divulge that information to a healthcare practitioner, too.

I would inform them that my vaccination status does not affect my medical care and, HIPAA guarantees my privacy.
