Photopia appears to be one of the more complex photo editors, along the lines of Photoshop and Gimp, which I only use if working with layers. Have you tried IrfanView to view/crop images? I can give you some tips if your computer will run it. I've used it for many years, easiest, simplest image manipulator I've found. Does a lot more, too, reads pdf files, easily create slideshows. Small 5mg program. I use IrfanView multiple times daily, Gimp every few months.
