Sinema has been described as a moderate to conservative Democrat, being generally socially liberal but fiscally moderate to conservative. According to National Journal's 2013 Vote Ratings, her votes place her near the center of their liberal-conservative scale.

During the 116th Congress, she voted with President Donald Trump's position roughly 25% of the time, the second-most of any Democratic senator to serve during the full term.
