The flat earth map ("azimuthal equidistant projection" map) shows severe distortion of the southern hemisphere, compared to a globe. How are travel times in the southern hemisphere explained?
I've flown from London to Cape Town, and I've also flown from Auckland NZ to Santiago Chile. Both flights were non-stop, and both took ~12 hrs. Makes sense, as you look at a globe you'll see the distances involved are roughly the same for both – about 6k miles.
Now, looking at the azimuthal equidistant projection, if I draw a straight line/flight path from London to Cape Town, and then draw a straight line from Auckland to Santiago ... it shows me that if the earth were flat, the NZ to Chile flight should be almost two-and-a-half times as long as the London to Cape Town flight.
Flight speeds, Southern Hemisphere flights say they are traveling at 500 mph while same distance flight in the north travel at 650 mph. Reality they are traveling way faster in the south and play with the speeds on travel websites to make the times work with the distance
